CURRICULUM AND PHILOSOPHY
Art classes at Immaculate Conception School teach the basic principles of art through inspiration, art history and diligent practice. Basic principles of art are much like learning the alphabet. We practice using line, form, color, perspective and composition through engaging projects. These projects often reinforce classroom curriculum. Recently, 5th and 6th grades have painted landscapes to illustrate book reports. They also produced Greek pottery to reinforce their unit on ancient Greece. Kindergarteners have created letter art . First through 4th grades have studied drawings of famous artists such as Picasso and Leonardo DaVinci to inspire their own drawings. We are now producing a large collaborative canvas of painted fish to represent their school. Stay tuned for more good things to come!
